CHECK FOR INJURIES AND MOVE TO SAFETY​
First things first: you need to ensure that everyone in your vehicle is safe. If anyone seems to have a serious injury, call 911 right away. If everyone is unharmed, it's best to move to safety if possible. If your vehicle can still drive, move it to the side of the road. If not, get everyone out. It's not uncommon for drivers to crash into already-crashed vehicles, so it's best not to be in the car for any longer than necessary.

CONTACT THE AUTHORITIES ​
Unless you have already called 911, now is the time to contact the police. They will let you know whether they are going to send an officer to the scene or whether you can file a report later.

Document the Scene
Whether or not a police officer is going to visit the scene, you should take some time to document the accident. Take pictures of your vehicle and all the other vehicles involved in the crash; be sure to get a number of different angles to show the full extent of the damage. It's also a good idea to write down information like the time and location of the crash.

EXCHANGE INFORMATION​
This next part is tricky, especially in such a high-stress situation. You should talk to the other drivers involved and get their full names, contact information, vehicle registration numbers, driver's license numbers, license plate numbers, and insurance information. Beyond this, you should limit your talk; do not converse with them further.

FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM​
If your vehicle has sustained enough damage that repairs would cost more than your deductible, you can call your insurance company to file a claim.
